You were my lantern
You showed me the way
You lit up the darkness
Brighter than day

I only ever tried
To be myself
But by trying too hard
I became someone else

And now you’re gone
Like a flickering flame
And who do I have
Except myself to blame

But I will rekindle the remains of my fire
Which once burned with my own hopeless desires
Cast the past aside
Scattered by the breeze
Move forward and lock away these memories.
